As interior design changes, a newer, more simplistic style is now front and center. Modern interior home design can be mixed with industrial elements, natural materials and simple layers of patterns and hues. Here’s a beginners guide on how to create a modern design style in your home.

Natural light

Start off by working with natural light. Utilize large windows if possible to allow more light to enter the space. If the room isn’t built with large windows, shift furniture in an open format to keep light and movement free flowing. Natural light leaves your room feeling airy and liberated.

Transitional

In addition to natural light, transitional design can give your space a classic ambience. Transitional style refers to mixing more traditional designs with a modern approach to decorating. For example, you may decorate a dining room with a sleek, steel chandelier with a grand wooden dining table. This combination of old with the new is classy yet chic.

Art-adorning walls

Add a dash of contemporary interior design with art. Adorn walls with fresh art suiting your liking. The art pieces on the wall should flow well with the design style your room is set in.

For example, a modern living room may use simplistic, contemporary design art pieces to complement sleek modern furniture. Try to choose art complementing your room’s color scheme to create a cohesive, comfortable flow.

Modern interior design is fresh, elegant and simpler to achieve than you might expect. Visit your local home goods store today for a hands-on take at modern interior design ideas.

In twenty five years of real estate sales and marketing experience, I have sold hundreds of properties, while developing detailed knowledge of Sonoma & Napa area communities. I am a life-long resident in the North Bay and after a full day at work, I enjoy spending time with my four children, and participating in their many school and recreational activities.

Over the years, my clients have expressed diverse plans and dreams. I seek to truly understand and appreciate my clients' goals, focusing my efforts on realizing them. It has been fun learning more about the unique opportunities that attract people to the area such as the culinary community, the viticulture and wine industry as well as outdoor adventure tourism. It is important to me to listen to my clients, do what it takes to serve their needs and I am dedicated to treating everyone involved in a transaction both in a personal and professional manner. I work hard to anticipate and respond to the routine tasks at hand as well as the complex challenges that come up during real estate transactions while ensuring my goal to deliver you the outcome you desire.
